The Peninsula Pipes and Drums:
Supporting a Proud Tradition

Bagpipes have long been associated with police and fire services. The great immigrations of the 1800 and 1900's brought large numbers of Irish, Scots, and other Celtic descendants into the United States. Many of those immigrants settled into our major urban areas and started the earliest professional police and fire departments. The first police officers and firefighters brought into their workplaces many of the traditions and customs from the countries from which they came, one being the bagpipe.

Now more than ever, countries around the world have bagpipe bands associated with their police and fire services. Interest in playing the pipes has grown dramatically in the past ten years and shows no signs of waning as more people begin to learn highland piping and drumming. A great number of community members who have piping and drumming experience want to support their police, firefighters and communities. Participation in police and fire department bands throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, and Great Britain remains popular.

The Peninsula Pipes and Drums may be seen at:

Supporting the Peninsula Pipes and Drums

The Peninsula Pipes and Drums is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers who donate their time and money to this organization. No governmental funds are used. The cost of outfitting a piper or drummer is significant. Drums run up to $700.00 and a complete uniform for a member costs approximately $650.00.

Corporate Sponsorship

The Peninsula Pipes and Drums is actively seeking corporate sponsors within the business community. Annual corporate assistance of the band through donations of services, facilities, equipment, or funds provides the donor with recognition as a sponsor in all band mailings, on our website, and band banner. The Peninsula Pipes and Drums will perform at various venues, including police and fire departmental functions, public parades, regional Highland Games, and concerts. This means that our sponsor's names will be visible to a wide variety of individuals in the course of year.

Sponsor Benefits

  • Banners: The Peninsula Pipes and Drums will carry a parade banner listing our sponsors in all parades and events that the band participates in (Unless prohibited by parade regulations)
  • Recognition on all correspondence: The Peninsula Pipes and Drums list our sponsors on all correspondence, emails, newsletters and mailings.
  • Special Performances: The Peninsula Pipes and Drums will make itself available to the sponsor for special events and performances at a reduced rate subject to availability.
